I always used to use the ID guides on the UKDFD but the new site seems to have them hidden away. The best ones were Rod Blunts articles on identity hammered coins. He now has his own website and is one of my go to resources. He makes it pretty easy to narrow the coins down and the list of mints and moneyers is really useful as a starting point.
