Back on the fields again this afternoon for a few snatched hours accompanied by the Kindly loaned Deus Lite . Gradually getting used to this machine and I am liking the light weight and enjoying trying to get used to the sounds of the signals through the headphones .
I had three hours to spare and half hour of that was spent chatting with the Farmer which is not a bad thing and once we put the World to rights I was off keen to get a start .
Weather wise it was warm with a nice pleasant breeze but with summer over it won't be too long before the entire landscape changes and readies itself for the coming winter . The leaf on the trees although still green are beginning to show signs of wilting and soon it will be time for winter clothing but for now I was happy to make the most of what little time I had at my disposal and make the most of the warmth of the sun .
Ground conditions were no different , although the heavy clumps off ploughed soil was now beginning to break down a bit , surface was still fairly crusty but lovely and soft which is a joy to dig .
I decided to stick to one field and just work the lower area seeing as time was not on my side , a few hours can pass rather too quickly when lost in your own little world of peace and quiet only being interrupted by the short sharp signals when the machine picks up a notable target . Today was a little different , some areas were almost completely devoid of anything other than annoying bits of silver foil which always give a good signal . Not so many buttons this time round and only one shot gun cartridge . A few interesting bits and one completely smooth silver coin which I think is a hammered coin , never found one as bald as this before , shame but thats the way it goes . Despite the smooth coin It is always a pleasure to be out , good finds or bad and with the weather being kind you couldn't ask for much more .

That’s a good bag of finds - crotal bell piece too and a nice button/ mount with the cross on. Has a jetton feel

Do you feel you are getting the hang of it now? It’ll be time to move to advanced soon :D
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking
Carling 2

I would hazard, a guess and say the blank silver is a William 6p I may be wrong but it could also be a love token

I do feel that I am getting quite used to the machine , perhaps a few more outings and then step it up for an advanced session

I thought William love token same as carling. What is the thing that looks like shell ? I though palm guard till I looked at the size compared to the other items.

You did well considering you had a strange machine and two & half hours. Nicely found Paul

English jettons have a hole through the middle. They were often made into brooches. What’s the back like? They are lovely coins :D

Would have been happy with that session ,Paul.
Is the top left piece, with the 3 designs part of a clog clasp ?
Always liked the 1961 dated coins, as they read the same upside down.
Cheers,
Dave.

Nice session that Paul....an interesting range of finds and lots of encouragement for both the permission and the new machine.
like the Jetton brooch very much indeed.
