Ornate Bridle Boss???

I found this yesterday and assume it’s a bridle boss...

I had a look on the PAS site but could not see anything with a similar pattern so just wondering about it’s age...I am thinking in the 1700/1800’s ???

That's nice :thumbsup: They are often called strap mounts too, although I agree a boss is probably a better description. They are usually dated 1600-1850.

Thanks for the confirmation...it was pretty deep too, probably about 12" so my heart went a bit when I initially saw it lol

Not often anyone can find an exact design. A Google search turns up some similar to give you some idea.
