Evening All,
Managed to get on a field i have been aching to have a go at properly all year... and it didn't disappoint! I have been struggling through the stubble on it but its finally been turned over and disced... and its turning up all sorts!
If anyone can help with the halfpennies I'd be much obliged ( being strict about it, the one on the right I found the day before on a different field - a very satisfying find, these wee coins, and a nice sign the Deus is running on all cylinders) but the also rans are as follows:
A C Servilius Vatia, Republican denarius... c.127 BC. (he who should be thanked for the ID knows who he is!) so officially my oldest coin... seen better days but I'm not complaining!
A full crotal ( which i know sounds a bit disgusting... sorry) and a very nice one with a high pitched ding! A grotty roman, couple of nicely decorated "silver" buttons - one with a queen or noble woman on it i think... and from the little research i have managed, a Portuguese Casino Token from 1898! (Thats Aluminium sadly!)
A more diverse set of finds I have rarely, if ever, found in a single area of perhaps 3/4 acres in a single session.
All the Best
Alexander
A pretty diverse range of "silver"...!

Wow-ee what a mix! Must have been immense fun!!
A Republican Roman is always a great result...especially in the UK. (Over here in France they capitulated much earlier, natch.
)
And that is early by any reckoning.
Hammies, nice bell...what's not to like! Exciting times Alexander!! It is really a good feeling when a field you have been anticipating actually reaps a reward because they quite often disappoint.

I’m with Jan, that’s a superb finds bag. Without seeing the loop it looks like a 1550 to 1700 one. Very pleased it’s a ringer
Love the halfpennies. Any of the small round coins are an absolute delight to find. I prefer finding them to pennies any day as they really do show a great set up. Well done
I’ll ignore the boring Roman stuff but would love a close up of the Livery button - looks interesting!

Good selection there, Alex.
Now in contrast to Cath, i have no interest in Hammies but Roman Silver, especially a Republican, now you`re talking.
Also like the Crotal, very complete example.
Cheers,
Dave.

What a cracking session
From here, it looks like you have a brace of Henry VI but my eyesight is notoriously bad
Edit: it IS bad
Second one might be Henry V but let's wait for an expert (or someone with better minces) to tell you

We might have a limit one day if it gets misused but our ‘let’s not have many rules cause we are dealing with adults’ approach is going well so far

Well done, it looks like that field will keep your interest.

Good things come to those who wait.
