I have just finished the first ever finds bag - commissioned by Bruce, who was happy to pay for a beta version :D

So I’ll do one of these, but a little bit smaller and in soft thick brown leather. The next one should be a lot quicker to make too. This one doesn’t have a pin-pointer holster on the side as Bruce didn’t want that, but would you?

It has belt loops at the back plus a removable strong (adjustable) canvas shoulder strap. The main bag section has a plastic liner (recycled milk bottle!) but still has 3 holes at the bottom if it gets soil in. The flap has a magnetic closure. There’s a second pocket which fits one of those round finds boxes (and still has room for car keys) and is secured with a press stud.

The leather is top quality veg dyed soft leather which is very strong but supple.

So is this what you’d like to see for the next forum competition. Or would you prefer something else?

Note there is no other way of getting one of these unless you’re willing to pay my extortionate hourly rate. This one would have cost £750 plus material if I’d charged my normal minimum hourly rate

Blimey Cath, that’s generous. I haven’t got a hand-bag as good as that. It’s much too good to dump muddy iron in.

Having said that if I’d seen it on offer 12 years ago I’d have said ‘yes please’ but now on the tail end of detecting I’ll give someone else a chance. It’ll last a life time.

Cath, that is a very nice piece of work which would make a great present for someone. Reckon that would sell for a fair bit in a department store, although i have not been in one for years.. As already said, a shame to get muddy.
Very generous and kind thought. :clapping:

Now, that is yet another touch of Quality from the House of Cath

I'm fortunate to have one of you pinpointer holders and a trowel sheath but I just haven't had the heart to get either of them dirty yet

But I will. They're made to be used.

That is superb and I think you are an absolute star giving your time and effort....I love it....but I admit that I would probably not use it for finds. (Put another way, I definitely wouldn't  ) But I would love it for my country walks and trips out on the bike.
I use a recycled camera pouch for my finds and have now got into such bad habits I would be bound to spoil anything better and I would be so sad if i spoiled something that is so beautifully crafted.

What are you lot like  OK John has to prove he’s using his leather gifts or I want them back :D I promise they are easy enough to clean

I’ll make the bag as a general one then shall I? If you don’t want to use it as a finds pouch then the men can use it as a man bag and the ladies however they like.

I’ll make some more trowel holsters as well. Now I’ve worked that design out they are much easier
