Hi everyone. A friend of mine that actually prompted me to buy a machine in the first place, owns this. He's owned it for about 12 years and he never really got into it and now wants to start again. He bought it second-hand and has no instructions. He's worried that it might need recalibrating, if that is such a thing? Does anybody know enough about this model to be able to help.
I own a Simplex+ and am a complete newbie so cannot help.
Any help would be awesome thank you. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure that machine had an imaging coil? Showing the shape of detected target?
Could be wrong but I'm not that uncertain.!

Here is a video from the late, great Norfolk Wolf....
Might help your friend...

I doubt the machine needs recalibrating, just a bit of confidence instilled into your friend should do the trick

The manual for it is dowloadable from Garrett's website, I would post a link but the link starts the download so I'm struggling to copy it.

If you google Garrett GTI 1500 it's the first result, free PDF download.

Never used one but I think it has a lot of the same features as the later Ace machines and some other bits of its own so it should be pretty capable, if a bit weighty.

Wouldn't think it would need recalibrating or retuning, I think it has a resin filled coil so that should still be fine and if it has been stored in ok conditions the rest of the electronics should be fine too, certainly worth giving it a good test though, if only just so that you know you can trust it.

Garrett site is now working here is the link to the manual (all 88 pages).

As Jamesey said at a quick glance it looks like a forerunner of the ACE series. Rather dated but should still work OK if it has been stored in the dry.
