Welcome both Jamjar and Beaniesmum, your in a lovely part of the world.
Regarding where you are there are some finds that are "common" is some parts of the UK, while as rare as hens teeth in other parts, being out where you are might mean you miss out on some types of finds so do not worry its not that your doing some thing wrong. On the other hand I can imagine that there might be more finds connected to Ireland that the majority of us would not see.
Re Dave The Slave's post, once you follow this forum for long you will notice I go off on "rather random tangents" at times
