Today I found what looks like the top half of a button. The pattern reminds me of early 19th c crotal bells but I’m rarely right with these things. I was quite chuffed with it and had a look round to see if there was another half, thinking it might be a bead. About 20 mins later and a few feet away I found another one, I tried to see if they fit together but the dome on the second one was bigger, however, if you allowed for corrosion it was possible. Half an hour later I found another one a few feet away. So unless I’ve missed a fourth, they are not joined together. So any idea on age and what they are I would be great. Thank you in advance

I’ve found lots and lots of those on my civil war site. They are common but I think they are lovely.
