Hi there,
This looks like it could have some age.
If so, can anybody point me in the right direction?
With thanks,
Robin

The ends a bit bent. There’s a great guide in the research section. Check out the very top (pinned) topic with guides to different types of finds
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking
Thank you. The bend looks part of the casting with a thicker section at the top of the loop which would stop two leather straps from meeting.
Are the guides on the PAS?

The guides aren’t on PAS. Go to this topic viewtopic.php?t=451.
Scroll down to Horse equipment and then you need to look at the second link Saxon Harness Fittings plus the last link to the Finds Research Group paper.
Then you can take a gander at the treasure trove of other links in there

That’s so helpful. I have had a look through the pages and the PAS. There are several that are matches. The bend is the point of difference, so maybe this is an unintentional bend. It all makes for an interesting artefact!Oxgirl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 7:56 am The guides aren’t on PAS. Go to this topic viewtopic.php?t=451.
